I started running for real in 2018 after I made a new year’s resolution to run the Two Oceans Half Marathon… and only one-half marathon at that. I never saw myself as a runner, but I started to enjoy the camaraderie and the social aspect. I promptly decided that I didn’t want to grow old without seeing the strength and beauty my body was capable of. I made new forever friends, my mental health got healthier and I’ve seen my body do things I could only dream of before.
Ever since that “one” half marathon, I’ve now done plenty more half marathons, quite a number of full marathons as well as a few ultra-marathons. I found that marathons are indeed my favourite distance. I need to get my money’s worth. The discipline running has brought to my life has spilled over into other aspects of my life and I couldn’t be happier.
